A MESSAGE FROM OUR PRESIDENT

As President of the Baton Rouge Alliance of Black School Educators, I am honored to lead an organization deeply committed to advancing educational excellence and equity for all students, with a focused dedication to uplifting Black and Brown students and the educators who serve them.

Our mission is rooted in a clear purpose: to ensure that every child receives a high-quality education that prepares them for success in college, career, and life, including access to and success in higher education. We work to support, develop, and empower educators through professional learning, mentorship, advocacy, and community engagement. By strengthening the pipeline of effective teachers, leaders, and higher education partners, we strive to create learning environments where every student feels seen, valued, and challenged to reach their full potential.

In Baton Rouge and the surrounding parishes, our work is both urgent and inspiring. We are building strong partnerships with schools, families, community organizations, and institutions of higher education to address opportunity gaps, promote culturally responsive teaching, and expand pathways to college and career success. Through workshops, conferences, and collaborative initiatives, we equip educators and future educators with the tools and support needed to make a lasting impact.

We are especially proud to carry forward the mission and purpose of the National Alliance of Black School Educators. Their legacy guides our vision as we work locally to advance policies and practices that ensure educational equity and excellence for Black and Brown students. By aligning our efforts with this national movement, we are part of a broader commitment to transforming education and strengthening pathways into higher education for students across the country.

The Baton Rouge Alliance of Black School Educators stands energized and united in this work. We believe in the power of education to change lives, strengthen communities, and shape a more just future. Together, with passion and purpose, we are making that vision a reality for Baton Rouge and beyond!
